My journey through education was a very positive one as I thoroughly enjoyed being challenged every day and had a real thirst for knowledge. I attended a Primary school in Newport Pagnell where my favourite subject was History. I loved exploring what had happened in the past and how people had lived. We were very lucky to go on lots of trips and visits out to bring these eras of History to life! It was at Secondary School where I discovered my lifelong passion for acting and Drama; I was a very shy child and acting gave me the chance to express myself and develop confidence, something I encourage with my class every year. I was the first member of my family to go to university where I studied Drama. It was here that I discovered my passion for teaching young children whilst running youth Drama groups so I then went and studied for a PGCE at the University of East Anglia.
Shepherdswell Academy is where I started my teaching career as an NQT in September 2014. My first memory of the school was when I came for my interview; I instantly felt very welcome and the children were very friendly, creative and imaginative - I knew it was the school for me! The school fosters such a strong sense of community that in my role as SMSC and RE leader I have really enjoyed having the opportunity to interact with children with their families whilst learning about their cultures and beliefs. Shepherdswell children are so curious, energetic and excited to learn that I look forward to what each new day will bring!
